COSTS • The costs listed here are for the packages presented on this website. This so we can provide a snapshot overview of retreat package costs. Do not let the old-fashioned country-frugal rates fool you, we are talking about very high-quality retreats, in terms of lodging, dining, and services, and we walk that talk. You might also be as surprised as we were by some of the creative retreats, workshops, and other special events we have produced. We can do a lot more than what you see on this website while providing the same type of country frugal pricing you see in evidence here. So do not hesitate to ask for the moon, and let’s see how close we can get. That being said if your retreat is as described here, this is exactly what it will cost. No hidden fees, no nickel-and-diming.

STYLE • Well Fancy Pants Y’All. Your facility looks very high-end, upscale and intimidating.
Fancy Pants? Your facility looks very high-end, upscale and intimidating! Yes in terms of history, reputation, lodging, dining, amenities, services, facilities, comfort and hospitality. No in terms of vanity, conceit, pretentious airs or attitude. The place and its people are rural, rustic, comfortable, clean-cut, authentic, simple, human and down to earth. We are indeed pretty highly educated, world-travelers, and did not fall off any turnip trucks, but gratitude, kindness, and simplicity are at the very core of our values and enterprise. • “Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat.” ~ Scottish Proverb • “Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art.” ~ Frederic Chopin • “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~ Melody Beattie • Here is one of our favorite videos.
DRESS CODE • Yes, you definitely must be dressed!
Comfort • Yes you definitely must be dressed! How is up to you. Decent & unpretentious is in. Style and elegance is always in, but above all comfortable in mind, body and spirit.
QUALITY • Historic Hotels of America, Select Registry, TripAdvisor Hall of Fame
Modest Rural… like the Beatles were just a cool little rock band from Liverpool. • We do have a bit of street cred! Every year we pass the most rigorous quality inspections by Historic Hotels of America and by Select Registry, two of the most rigorous certification inspections in hospitality.
Our location, history, geography, climate, and authentically friendly people, all contribute to making Mast Farm Inn & Valle Crucis quite simply a treasure… a natural sanctuary & haven of peaceful calm. We are not just in the sticks… we are in the twigs. That is partially true. While you have the impression you stepped back in time and are in the middle of rural nowhere, in fact some of the most vital, diverse and attractive small mountain villages in the United States are within 10 miles, as is the Blue Ridge Parkway, the second most visited National Park in America. The Mast Farm Inn, along with The Mast General Store and The Valle Crucis Conference Center is one of the three key landmark institutions of Valle Crucis, is on the National Register of Historic Places, as is the entire historic district of Valle Crucis in which it is located. Nestled high in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina our peaceful rural community has stayed untouched over the years. Valle Crucis’ scenic beauty and majestic quality continuously mesmerizes residents and draws visitors from throughout the world. “Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat.” ~ Scottish Proverb

AVAILABILITY • Anytime.
Days of the week available • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, for these packages and rates. We can do retreats anytime, but weekends, some days and dates, require different rates. Basically know that any time frame is possible, but we cannot design packages for every eventuality, so simply get in touch. It never hurts to ask.
Months of the year available • Any months except for July, October, November, December. Not as big an issue as one might imagine, as those are not advisable months for retreats and workshops in general. People travel, and are more in party mode. That being said if you want to do a fun or work based retreat during those months we are happy to explore that with you.
Custom Retreats at Any Time • As indicated above no problem. As you can see by clicking here, Novel Adventure’s “Gathering On The Ridge” is quite out of the box, and takes place during prime time July. Simply get in touch. It always helps to ask.
GUIDELINES & POLICIES • Click here to review retreat & workshop specific conditions & terms. Trying to keep it simple!
Important Note • We may waive, reduce or raise individual components and fees depending on your specific plan. Please note that all pricing on this website is indicative and informative and not an official proposed price or quote. Days, times, seasons, the context and configuration of your retreat or workshop, and the price and requirements for same, can shift up or down considerably. You will receive an official quote from our retreats & workshops manager. All retreats & workshops taking place at the Inn require a special event contract no matter how simple, and require the advance notice to, and authorization of our retreats manager. Sites and locations are not available as stand alone rentals for self-produced retreats. We cannot authorize self-produced and self-serviced retreats and workshops on the estate. Among many of the sound reasons, there are legal, fire marshal, food safety and service, alcoholic beverage service, and insurance prescriptions and constraints involved in operating an Inn vs. simply renting a stand alone cabin or detached home. Each room cottage and cabin has its own legal occupancy limits, and we have a global occupancy limit. The same holds true for locations and sites on the estate. We are on The National Register of Historic Places, and obviously quite averse to damage to property or furnishings, and as part of Historic Hotels of America and Select Registry we uphold high standards. Other risks include your retreat or workshop group spilling out into unreserved common areas of the Inn, Estate and Grounds and creating what other guests might sense or experience as a disturbance. If you want a 100% self-produced retreat, we recommend you rent a private owner cabin, cottage or home and we would be happy to help you with dining or catering. See the Guidelines & Policies page by clicking here.
